You know what’s so great about life? No matter how old you are, you can keep fine tuning yourself. I am fortunate in that I have 4 adult kids who are constantly pulling me upward to fresh ideas that, even at my age, can prove to be truly life changing.
Whether it’s eating better or finding new ways to exercise, new places to visit or make-up to try, these four are constant sources of inspiration and motivation.
At the suggestion of my two eldest, my husband and I recently purchased a Peleton and something totally unexpected has happened..not to my body (yet) but in my head.
I am the type of person who has always been satisfied pushing myself to about 70% of what is being asked of me. You know “the zone” everyone talks about? Well I had never visited that place..I was never interested in pushing myself that hard.. like ever.
I was explaining to my daughter yesterday that, thanks to the coaching from the Peleton instructors, I can now say I know what it feels like to “leave it all on the field”..or in this case on the bike.. and you know what? It is.. just WOW.
My kids all know what this is about..they are constantly blowing past barriers and giving 100%.
They are mountain climbers, like their dad.
This is completely new territory to me..to push myself like this..but it hit me a few days ago that this space..these moments of maximum effort..this is where change occurs in life. Whether it’s at a job or in the gym or wherever..these moments of total commitment.. when you are all in.. when you decide to give something the best you have and you discover what your “best” looks like..what it feels like.. it is in THIS moment that the magic happens deep inside your soul. It is from this vantage point that you see what is possible and where you grow into the “shoes” that will take you down the path towards fulfilling your goals, commitments and dreams …this is where the transformation happens.
I am 58 years old and being introduced to a part of myself I’ve never met.
How incredibly cool is that?
