I’ve always felt that time is a poorly understood tool and under-utilized gift.
Time to think, respond, relax, calm down..
How often do we get swept up in situations we later regret because we don’t give ourselves time to engage our common sense, remind ourselves of what we value, consider our options, evaluate the situation, temper our pride and vent off our emotions?
A pair of Kanye West’s Yeezy sneakers recently sold at Sothebys for a record shattering 1.8 million dollars. I wonder how you’d feel the morning after a purchase like that. Are you hung over with regret, disbelief or embarrassment?
Auctions are, to me at least, one of the most undesirable situations you could find yourself in; a man-made pressure cooker that steams the good judgement right out of a person and lays bare every last one of our worst impulses. An auction robs you, on purpose, of time.
Time is a buffer, a speed bump, a guard rail, a safety net, an air bag that keeps us from smacking the dashboard of consequences resulting from rushed action and decisions.
Who wants to wind up with those kind of bruises..
or a pair of 2 million dollar sneakers?
