It’s been a year of Covid. I thought I had figured out all the dos and don’t, ins and outs..but I guess there’s always more to learn.
Yesterday we were visiting my mom and I decided to sneak a cookie. I quickly lowered my mask to my chin each time I took a bite of that Pepperidge Farm goodness. We stayed and chatted for a while and then left to pick up our dinner on the way back home. Arriving way too early at the restaurant, my husband and I walked around the very large, outdoor plaza with our dog. I lowered my mask beneath my chin and raised it over my nose as needed while we wandered.
Once we got our food, we piled into the truck and headed home. I pulled off my mask and immediately noticed the alarming dark streak right down the middle of it. “WO!! Is my nose bleeding?” I asked turning to my husband with no small sense of panic. He quickly looked my way and said “No, I don’t think so, but you do have something dark all over your chin.”
Sure enough, I had brown smeared ALL over my chin. I guess one of the chocolate chunks fell into my mask as I was eating my cookie and proceeded to melt as we walked in the heat. All that raising and lowering of the mask created the perfect, vertical chocolate smear.
Moral of the story?
When you pull down your mask for a quick nibble, the mask can become a catch-all for whatever misses your mouth. Might be worth a moment to shake it out after a snack or meal. 👍
A year in and still learning..go figure.
