It arrived with a thud on my doorstep yesterday; my 2021 planner.
Technically speaking, I could have continued to use last year’s planner.. it’s undated and of course the bulk of it is blank..but (for reasons that are surely obvious and shared by many) I want 2021 to be completely uncoupled from 2020…
no peas touching the mashed potatoes (if you know what I mean)
Speaking of which, I noticed that one of the online news sites I frequent has their 2020 pictorial retrospective posted; the first photo: cars on fire and smashed windows.
So yeah, HARD pass.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m not interested in any reflections on this past year. I’ll be happy to crawl out of the quicksand that was 2020 with my sanity intact. All I want to do is brush the grit out of my eyelashes and teeth and move on.
Which brings me back to my new, HOT pink planner.
Yes, I picked HOT pink on purpose. It’s an outrageously “sharp” color, one I normally wouldn’t go for but one that feels just right in my hands today. It’s the “look at me” planner equivalent of fire engine red lipstick and it’s not just a plain old calendar either, it’s got boxes to track healthy life habits and places to help you crystalize your goals and aspirations. I see my new planner as a kind of golf ball collecting machine, a tool to help gather up the scattered pieces that broke off in 2020 and add them to fresh ideas for 2021 .
It feels pretty bold putting together a planner for 2021;
almost mildly defiant.
It feels very..
oh, I dunno..
