#1- Carpe Diem because life can really suck when you get old. Sometimes you reach this grey zone of inverse realities where the daily fight to stay alive keeps getting harder while the reasons to continue battling keep fading. Nothing too much you can do about it except live the heck out of every healthy, purpose-filled day right now!
#2-Enjoy your stay at Hotel Corona. I had a dream last night that I accidentally got into a service elevator that only stopped on one floor of a high rise hotel. The doors closed on me in the lobby before I could squeeze out and didn’t open again until I reached the 111th floor. There was a concierge lounge with amazing food up there, a gorgeous indoor swimming pool and views of the city that were incredible. I could tell that other guests were around but never could get close enough to talk to anyone. I didn’t have a key to any room on that floor and couldn’t find the elevator to leave. It was incredibly distressing until I decided to relax in my, not at all awful, surroundings and just accept that this was where I’d be until…
#3- My husband and I watched a profoundly disturbing (and important) documentary on Netflix entitled “The Social Dilemma.” If you are a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram user, you simply MUST watch this presentation. If you wonder why and how the streets of our country (and others) can instantly be flooded with agitated people looking to break things and hurt people, you need to hear from these former executives. If you are disturbed by the rise in suicides among teens- you should understand the causes. Concerned that you can’t stop scrolling? Find out why you do it.
Be prepared.. once you realize how you are being manhandled, misled, molded and managed by these kazillion dollar social media geniuses who pimp out your profile to the highest bidder and curate all the information you are fed (think Truman Show) you may get tik-tok-ed enough to break your addiction. As one of the interviewees ominously said, “If you aren’t paying for the service, you’re the product.”
Buy hey-have a great week-end. 😉
