Tapping into hidden reserves of motivation and self control.

Honey Crisp apples are on sale this week at our Florida grocery store.  Seems a bit early for apples, but I bit on the deal none the less. (Get it..? 😂)

WOW!! Are they delicious!

That’s one thing I will say about the lost summer of 2020, the produce has been off the chain.. 😜 ..Juicy peaches, sweet corn, bright cantaloupe, fresh asparagus, flavorful tomatoes and now these awesome apples…OHHH MY!!

This has been a cruddy time in so many areas of life, but it has been a GREAT time for me personally to re-commit to a vegetarian lifestyle. There are two forces at play that are almost guaranteeing success in this endeavor, one is the abundant supply of beautiful produce, the other is the incredible satisfaction that comes from being in control of SOMETHING…ANYTHING!

Let’s face it, the last few months have featured pure loss of control..whether it’s cancelled vacations, graduations, weddings, job loss, even the ability to find toilet paper.

This has been an extended stroll in a maze with no visible exits.

So here’s the amazing news: I believe now is the best time ever to tap into your hidden reserves of self control to accomplish something you have possibly struggled with in the past. You could be pleasantly surprised by how primed you are to assert control and feel in charge again.

Eating healthy and exercising was a natural response for me as I watched this pandemic unfold..not that being a vegetarian wards off Covid, but the desire to be fit and healthy in the face of disease seemed almost intuitive to me. Again, what surprised me most is the depth of seemingly pent up self control and determination I discovered to assist me in this quest.

No matter the challenge you decide to embark on, I am convinced you will find hidden reserves of motivation, focus, resiliency and a strong desire to assert self-control as well.  Is there an area you have struggled with in the past? Now (shockingly) may be the perfect time to face it head on. Why not go for it?

Fun Facts about apples:

  • Apples are LOADED with vitamin C
  • Apples contain insoluble fiber creating bulk and aiding in digestion.
  • Apples have pectin which helps prevent cholesterol from building up in the lining of blood vessels, which helps prevent atherosclerosis and heart disease.
  • Apples are high in polyphenols which function as antioxidants.
