Well, I did it.
I think the final kicker for me was when my husband and I went out for a drink before a show last December. The place was elegant, the mood was festive and because it was so crowded, we wound up sitting at the bar.
As I sipped my overpriced cocktail, I couldn’t help but notice my nubby nails. It had been two years since I had my acrylics removed and they still looked a mess. I don’t know why this is true, but when I have fake nails- I leave my cuticles alone. When I don’t, I pick at ’em.. On top of that they were short, broken, dull.. again, a mess.
I can’t rightly remember why I ever got rid of my acrylics, but I think it came down to being lazy. It just seemed to be the right move at the time.. But as I stared at my fingers that night in December I realized I wanted them back. A nice set of nails makes me feel “finished”..not as in done, but “done up.”
It’s kinda like making your bed: you can clean your whole house but if your bed’s not made it doesn’t quite feel “finished.”
And that was me:
hair fixed,
perfume sprayed,
pretty dress on,
icky, bitten nails.
So anyway..I got my acrylics back two weeks ago..and I LOVE THEM-AGAIN!!!!!
What a simple, simple, simple way to have fun with color and feel more…
“finished.”
