I love my new ‘Lion Planner’and one of the reasons why became clear to me this morning as I planned out my day, and more importantly, took a minute to scan my goals for the week that I had written down this past Sunday.
What I discovered was this:
While I’m getting a lot accomplished on a daily basis, only a small fraction of what I’ve done since Monday reflects the intentions I had written down for the week. It’s like I totally forgot about what I had previously identified as more “broadly important.”
It’s not that I’m not a “busy” person.. but at the end of any given week I’d have a hard time showing you my footprints on any cohesive, strategic pathway towards the realization of larger life goals. Keeping all ‘the balls’ in motion (food, cleaning, shopping etc) is distracting me from focusing on bigger, more exciting and fulfilling objectives.
Which is EXACTLY why I bought a planner that has separate goal setting sections for the month, week and day.
Wednesday seems to be a good time to check in, look back and see if my “wheels” are still on the track.
