Can a gift be a hit AND a miss?
Well, yes it can be if you give the same thing (in this case a message board) to more than one person and the reaction is let’s just say “mixed.”
Interestingly enough, it was one of our daughters who said she sadly didn’t have ‘enough room’ in her suitcase to take her message board home. (uh huh..🤔) My daughter in law, on the other hand, seemed to have plenty of space in her carry on luggage and sent me the following photo after she and our son arrived back in Maryland.
So yes..a hit and a miss.
Another hit and miss? The “re-gifted coffee” from Bali. So according to the label, this (cute/scary?) little exok looking animal known as a LUWAK from Bali eats the famous(?) kopi coffee cherries and..well..digests them..and then the fermented result(?) is processed/re-gifted into coffee…(again?)
So horrifyingly interesting..especially the random 100% guarantee on the label..I mean what’s that all about..? I can think of some possible guarantees that’s for sure..
Our son and our daughter’s boyfriend (adventurers that they are) thought this stuff was simply delicious.. The rest of us were far too afraid of the possible side-effects (e-coli anyone?) to partake.
Other hits? These fabulous, sturdy, silver trimmed plastic plates. Reasonably priced and so much more festive than regular, white paper or plastic options. (Available in gold and other colors as well- on Amazon..of course.)
Another hit and miss is Florida weather in December:
But rain or shine being surrounded by our kids and their spouses and significant others is always a hit and for that I am so thankful. I know that the holidays can be a time of great sorrow and anger as unresolved stuff bubbles to the surface, so I am especially grateful for the fellowship, love and laughs we share whenever we are all together.. which isn’t often enough.
