A few years ago, my husband and I went to Columbia, SC to watch USC play NAVY. The Gamecocks crushed the midshipmen thanks in large part to their star running back, Marcus Lattimore. Every time he took to the field, his fans went absolutely nuts, and he responded with one super human play after another. He left South Carolina after his junior year and was drafted in 2013 by the San Francisco 49ers. In as much as Marcus hit the turf running as a freshman in college, he joined the NFL while on injured reserve. He had suffered devastating, back to back, knee injuries at Carolina, but was still picked up by the pros in the hopes that he would fully recover and eventually play at his usual record-breaking level.
