Maybe it’s just me, but when I saw this photo on Instagram yesterday all I could think was “really?” Now don’t get me wrong, I love the fall colors, but this looks like a pumpkin truck backed up to the front porch and dumped its load on the steps.
That’s a lot of pumpkins!
Maybe it’s because I’ve spent the last almost two years beating a track to Goodwill getting rid of all the excess I’ve accumulated over three decades.
Maybe it’s because I fully understand the work and money involved in creating this vignette. (Unless you grow your own pumpkins of course and in that case, WOWZA- double good on you!)
Maybe it’s because I used to suffer from “more is better” and that’s how I wound up with an attic full of Christmas trees and miles and miles of tangled lights..not to mention bags and bags of plastic Easter eggs.
Whatever it is, I’ve obviously fully embraced the tranquility of a minimalist lifestyle. This doesn’t mean I don’t acknowledge or appreciate the energy people put into their over-the-top holiday displays and promposals and gender reveals and all of it..it’s just not for me anymore.
