So yesterday I finally decided to start painting the kids’ bathroom. Most of our home is painted one neutral color, but I decided I wanted to “go rogue” and add some sunshine to their little jack and jill.
Sunshine means yellow.
I had two sample colors in my hand at Home Depot; one muted and one not so much. I was gravitating towards the muted one when an associate came over and offered his advice..pretty much “go bold or go home.”
So I did..go bold.. and then go home..and as I teetered on the ladder last night running my brush along the trim I knew I had made a mistake.
But I kept going..and going..and going. “You’ll learn to like it” I kept telling myself. (Have you bought a can of paint recently?? $$$$)
I hate it..
So today I get to start again and I’m just going to use the neutral we already have.
The old me would have stuck with it.. (you spent the money, you’ve invested this much time already-deal with it!)..but the new me isn’t afraid to admit a mistake and start over. I’d rather “pay the fine” up front in one painful transaction and get it over with than stick with a bad decision and go on the “installment plan” where I kick myself every time I walk in to that room. (I still have footprints on my rear end from all the times I’ve done that before..)
So anyway, if you call me today and I don’t answer the phone, you’ll know why; I’m fixing my mistake.
