I’m a hugger, squeezer, kisser and singer. When our kids were babies I’d swoop them up and break into some tune. I do it to pets too. Lots of nick names and made up songs..it’s just how I roll.
Take our little Havanese, Daisy. I made up her “theme song” when she was just a pup and when I start singing it she turns her head and wags her tail..she knows I’m focused on her, and she just loves it.
I guess that’s why Isaiah 12:2 strikes such a cord with me:
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord is my strength AND MY SONG, he has become my salvation.
I know what it feels like to love so much that you simply feel compelled to sing. That’s the relationship God wants us to have with Him; He wants to be the song of your heart.
