In the battle of Crock Pot vs. Insta Pot, I am all in for team crock. I’d rather drop a few ingredients in first thing in the morning and have a house that smells like a restaurant all day than drop those same ingredients in at 5pm.
But hey, Insta pots are all the rage and I don’t begrudge anyone their preference. I’m just more of an eight hour girl than an eight minute one when it comes to food.
Below is one of the easiest recipes I have ever made in my crock, in fact I made it yesterday because we were so incredibly busy. The fact that it was pouring rain and chilly outside somehow made it taste even better.
And the aroma… wow.
- 1 (3-4 lb) Chuck roast
- 1 envelope Good Season’s Italian dressing mix
- 1 12 0z bottle of beer (not light beer if you can help it)
Pour beer into crock pot, add envelope of seasoning and mix together. Add roast, cover with lid..cook on low all day. **For extra flavor, you can brown the meat first.
When the roast is done, pull it apart with forks and remove the fat. (I do not use the juices in crock pot as they are too fatty for my taste-BUT-you can cool the juices in fridge, skim the fat off when congealed, strain and use what’s left to create a wonderful gravy.)
Pair with veggies, mashed potatoes, corn muffins or rolls. YUM!
