My daughter and I were driving through relentless rain yesterday morning trying to pick up some last minute items.
I don’t know how it is where you live, but around these parts the shelves are bare.. completely and efficiently picked over. It feels and looks more like the day before a hurricane, not the week before Christmas. I actually purchased the very last, pre-made, red bow at Michaels..and believe you me, there was a reason it was the last bow standing. It’s a sad little thing but I gratefully hung it on our back gate during a break in the all-day downpour. (You can’t NOT have a bow on your gate!)
Later on, while venturing out solo, I finally snagged the last two items on my list: deodorant and eggnog. I know, I know..who drives around looking for eggnog and deodorant..but by this point, I had turned into that person I become when I won’t take “sorry, we don’t have any” for an answer. When I finally found both items I texted a trophy shot to my daughter. I felt like a hunter who had finally bagged sustenance for my hungry (and smelly?) family back at the cave..
I am now officially ready for the holidays.
