Two women from New York are suing a laundry list of companies for failing to properly secure a slide at an amusement park in Myrtle Beach, SC. Seems the two women were walking back to their hotel in the wee hours of the morning after a wedding, saw the slide, went around (trespassed) the plastic gate and slid down to the bottom where they smashed into a metal gate, both of them breaking multiple bones.
The plaintiffs maintain that this ride should have been secured in a fashion so that adults, such as themselves, should not have been able to “outsmart” the barrier and fling themselves down the 80 foot tall slide. They also mention that the ride was unattended, so they were not aware that the slide needed to be dampened and that they needed burlap sacks to safely make it to the bottom.
Obviously these women feel it is others’ responsibility to save them from themselves.
Just imagine the implications..
