Matthew 20:32

Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?”

I am fascinated by this verse. Jesus and his disciples were walking down the road and passed two blind men who were calling out for mercy.  Obviously Jesus knew these men were blind, yet He still asked them to specifically verbalize their need asking “what do you want me to do for you?”

I’ll admit I’m not always clear about asking for what I want.  Frankly, there are plenty of times I’m not even sure what I want..or I kinda know, but I’m too timid to “go on record”.  Time and time again I have seen in my life that the people who clearly and unambiguously identify their goals have much better odds of realizing them.

I’m all about ‘God’s will be done’ in my life, but I have to stop using that phrase as crutch and an excuse not to specifically ask for, plan for, and work towards what I want.
