Psalm 19:14

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Maybe every news website on internet should have this verse pop up before people are allowed to comment on a story. Read anything political or controversial on and you can instantly see how crass our communicating has become.  We don’t just “talk trash”..we “talk mean”….really mean. It’s as if we are becoming herd immune to manners or behavior standards of any kind.

I have heard it said that words are like toothpaste, once it all comes out there’s no squeezing it back in. Do words  really matter? I think they do, and we are personally- ultimately- accountable for everything we say.

  1. Yep. Email is like that too…once you hit “send” you lose control of the sharing….

I’ve always told my teen, never write anything you wouldn’t be comfortable having forwarded to about 200 people.

      1. We were always told not to write an email you wouldn’t want to see printed on the front page of the NY Times….that’s a dated reference now though… Do they still print papers? lol

They do, and I still get the NYT on Sunday…just one more indicator of my advanced age..I like reading hardback books, flipping through the paper, and I still send cards…👵🏽
