This was one of my kids’ favorite desserts back when they were little. You could find this sweet concoction at every church pot-luck we ever attended..and the little ones just lapped it up. I have a birthday coming next week and I do believe I’m going to make this again..for old time’s sake.
(Or is it for this “old timer’s” sake? 😮 😏)
-
1/2 cup butter
-
1 cup flour
-
2 TBSP sugar
-
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
-
8 oz cream cheese
-
1 cup powdered sugar
-
1 cup cool whip
-
2 pkgs. instant chocolate pudding
-
3 cups milk
-
shaved chocolate
I have to start with the disclaimer that I LOATHE instant pudding. Don’t ask me why..I mean I’ll eat cool whip all day long, but instant pudding tastes like metal to me. SO, if you want to step it up a notch, just make real chocolate pudding (using a little less milk than the box calls for- so it’s thicker) and allow it to cool completely. Otherwise, prepare both boxes of instant pudding mix with the three cups of milk. If all else fails, just BUY prepared pudding at the store.
*Grease a 9X13 glass pan with a little butter.
*Mix butter, flour and sugar in a bowl- add walnuts. Pat mixture onto bottom of pan, bake 10-15 minutes at 325 degrees..or until lightly golden.
*COOL completely
*Mix cream cheese, sifted powdered sugar and cool whip. Spread over baked layer and chill.
*Spread pudding over cream cheese mixture and then gently spread a final layer of cool whip on top of that. I like to shave some chocolate over the cool whip just to make it look pretty.
Yum!!

I have a problem. I usually eat three helpings of these types of desserts. Lol. Danger! 😍🔚. Thanks for sharing. I have a baby shower I may want to make this for.
