Every once in a while I will have a slice of cheese cake that is so good that I purposely eat slowly so as to make it last just a little while longer. This is what happened when I read this book back in 2013. I actually paced myself so that the story wouldn’t end.
This is the amazing, true account of a college rowing team that beats seemingly impossible odds to make it all the way to Hitler’s Olympics in Germany. What makes this story so inspiring is how difficult life was back in the depression, and yet these kids were so tough and so resourceful that there was simply no stopping them.
If you need a lift, all I can say is this is one of the most inspiring books I have ever read. It’s always good to be reminded of the hearty stock we come from..Makes you proud to be an American.
